In this modern day, fast-paced world, losing a debit card or an ATM card is not a big deal. While it is a tragic incident that we do not wish upon anybody, the fact of the matter is, that it is quite common. People do lose out their cards quite often. However, once a card is lost, while a person must try their best to find it, but upon the realization that finding it is going to be hard, or that it is lost forever, the first action that one must take is to block their ATM or debit card.
Blocking an ATM Card or a debit card used to involve going to the bank in the past. However, in today’s internet-era, this just needs a few clicks or taps! Users can easily block their ATM or debit card with the help of SBI Online Internet Banking services.
How to Block SBI ATM Card or Debit Card via SBI Online Banking Website:
Step 1: Visit the onlinesbi.com website
Step 2: On the left-hand side, there would be a section called ‘Personal Banking’. It would feature two options, Login and Login Lite. Login Lite is for those users who are on a slower or a spotty internet connection while the Login button is for those on a regular connection. For the sake of this demonstration, we are choosing ‘Login’.
Step 3: Click on Login, on the next screen, you would see a number of instructions. Read them, and click on ‘Continue to Login’. On the next screen, enter your username and password, and log in.
Step 4: Go to ‘E-Services’ that can be seen on the bar on the top.
Step 5: On the next screen, on the left-hand side, there would be an option ‘ATM Card Services’. Click on it.
Step 6: On the screen that follows, select your account for which you would like to block your ATM card, and then click on continue.
Step 7: On the next screen, select the card you want to block, you would have to enter the number in the box below. You would also have to choose the reason for which you are blocking the card. You can also enter a remark, optionally.
Step 8: After you are done filling in the details, click on submit. Following that you can choose a mode of authentication, either OTP or the Profile Password. If you choose OTP, you would get an SMS on your phone. If you choose profile password, you would need to enter your SBI Online banking ‘profile password’. Note: this is not the same as your account password that you use for login.
Step 9: Click on Confirm. After entering the right OTP or the password, and clicking on confirm your card will be blocked. You would also get a ticket number, which we suggest you note down so that you can use it in case an issue arises later.
